What information does Buroo process?
Buroo processes account information, document content and attachments, document fields you have checked, reminders, searches, technical and security information, support information and purchase or subscription status.
Documents you add may contain personal or sensitive information. Only add documents you want to keep in your Buroo archive.
Why does Buroo process this information?
Braightminds uses this information to store, synchronise and retrieve documents, provide OCR and AI analysis, create reminders and exports, manage accounts and subscriptions, provide security and support, and meet applicable legal obligations.
The legal basis is usually performance of the contract when you use Buroo. Where appropriate, we rely on legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention and improving reliability. We ask for consent where legally required, for example for optional product analytics.
AI analysis and your consent
Only with your separate, explicit consent does Buroo share OCR-recognised document text and, where provided, your title with Google Gemini / Google AI. The sole purpose is to propose details such as a document type, title, sender, date, amount, item name, reference, summary or possible reminder. The original photo or PDF is not sent to Gemini for this analysis.
You can use Buroo without this consent. Scanning, importing, local text recognition, saving and searching remain available; only the additional AI assistance is disabled. You can withdraw consent in Settings > AI and data sharing, after which no new document information is sent to Gemini.
For use from the European Economic Area, Google states that the data terms for paid services apply, prompts and responses are not used to improve Google products, and processing takes place under the Google Data Processing Addendum. This maintains an equivalent level of protection for shared information. Buroo treats AI output as a proposal and asks you to confirm critical suggestions.
Sharing, retention and deletion
Braightminds does not sell your information or use your documents for advertising. Information is shared only with technical providers needed for hosting, storage, authentication, analysis, payments, security and support.
Documents remain stored for as long as you leave them in Buroo. You can delete individual documents, export your archive and delete your account from the app.
After a deletion request, we delete or anonymise account and content information except where limited retention is needed for security, disputes or a legal obligation. Backups and technical logs may remain briefly and are overwritten according to their normal cycle.
Analytics, security and international transfers
Optional product analytics are off by default until you choose to enable them. Buroo does not use your documents for advertising or advertising tracking.
We take technical and organisational security measures, including restricted access, encrypted connections and abuse checks. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Technical providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we use appropriate safeguards, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. See the service provider list.
Children
Buroo is not aimed at children under 16. Minors must use it with the consent and guidance of a parent or legal guardian.
Your rights and contact
You can request access, correction, portability, restriction or deletion of your information, and where applicable object or withdraw consent, by contacting info@braightminds.nl. Include the email address you use for Buroo. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
This public website
You cannot sign in or upload documents on buroo.app. The website uses no advertising trackers or marketing analytics. Vercel processes technical request information to deliver and secure this website. The iPhone app’s document archive is not hosted on Vercel.
